New electrical capability

14 June 2016

Chess’ focus on efficiency

Recently Chess was engaged to replace 76 standard electrical motors with new high efficiency models for a major national food manufacturer in their Sydney factory. Fernando Hila, Electrical Engineer of Chess Engineering says, “this is a new type of project for Chess and it helps to demonstrate our growing capability in electrical and mechanical fitting work. While the client has electrical staff available in their factory, the job requires a lot of mechanical fitting so they were not able to complete the job themselves.” Upgrading the electrical motors is part of the clients’ focus on reducing electricity waste and improving energy efficiency. Chess’ combined electrical and mechanical skills ensured that they were able to complete the installation and conduct the testing on the motors to demonstrate the improvement in electricity waste.

“As part of Chess’ ongoing relationship with this client, we are continually working to develop new and innovative solutions to help maximise productivity. By offering licensed electricians as part of our team, and drawing on the experience from the Chess Flameproof business, we were able to incorporate both electrical and mechanical services to suit the client and add to the efficiency of their organisation.

New industrial electrical services include:

  • Test and tagging of electrical equipment
  • Electrical motor installation covering replacement and refurbishment
  • Maintenance and overhaul of machinery
  • Specialised and general lighting
